Dr Rachel Sanderson - VIAfilm production manager
Dr Rachel Sanderson is an environmental historian interested in globalisation, regionalism, histories of colonialism and environmental change. Rachel was awarded a Doctorate in environmental history at James Cook University in 2005 and received the University medal for excellence for a doctoral research thesis. She has published on the history of colonisation and development of rainforest areas in North Queensland, the history of the environmental protest movement, and issues of modernisation and regionalism. Rachel tutored in history, communications and effective writing at James Cook University, and has also worked as fundraising coordinator for Amnesty International in Townsville. Rachel is VIAfilm's production manager, based in Canberra, and is also collaborating as writer and researcher on a number of documentary film projects, including co-writing a feature length independent documentary film with Robert Nugent. |

Scott dates his work in the development field back to a year long sojourn through Latin America that was interrupted to help construct shelter for Salvadoran refugees being repatriated as part of the 1992 peace accords. That supposed ‘respite’ from his teaching career has yet to conclude with Scott having worked with a range NGOs and multilateral agencies since then.
In that time Scott has lived and worked in Cambodia, Viet Nam and Thailand, and also worked in China, India, Indonesia, Burma, Nepal and Laos. |

Richard has worked in the field of education since 1981 as a teacher, school principal, teacher educator and curriculum developer. Most of his professional experience has been in cross-cultural contexts - in Aboriginal schools and Aboriginal teacher education in remote schools in Australia's Northern Territory from 1981 to 1992 and in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam from 1993 to the present. As an educator, he has worked with children, adolescents and adults. |
